What does 'nearly off grid' mean?

Many of us dream of escaping the rat race, the modern world, and all the stresses that it brings. Do you ever find yourself longing for the simple life, being totally self-sufficient, and free from reliance on the power grid? For most of us, such a life is no more than a pipe dream.
